What do you want your legacy to say about you?

Love and Legacy
Lately, I’ve been sitting with two big questions: how can I bring love into all I do, and what do I want my legacy to tell about me?
I want my legacy to tell the story of someone who led with vision, not fear. Someone who believed that Black people deserve joy. I want my legacy to show my deep-rooted love of community and how I wove love into every aspect of my life.
Because here’s the thing: Love is a Political Act! Movements don’t just run on strategy; they run on love.
We must remember to sprinkle love into all we do; yup, that means into the emails, the meetings, the rallies, and the spreadsheets. We must show that we not only see each other, but also that we will protect each other.
So this July, while the world keeps spinning fast, I’m slowing down to ensure we don’t miss the why.
At All In Wisconsin, our why is clear:
Freedom that honors our ancestors and the future we’re fighting for
Safety that is proactive, collective, and rooted in care
Justice that doesn’t wait for permission
Joy that isn’t a reward for surviving, but a reason to keep going
That’s the legacy I want to leave: A movement rooted in love. A record of leadership that opened doors and held them open. A story where people were transformed not just by what we did, but by how we made them feel.
So I’m asking you to reflect with me: What do you want your legacy to say about you?
And how can we sprinkle love into everything we touch, from policy to protests to outcooks?
The story we’re writing isn’t finished. But if we lead with love, I believe it will outlive us, in the best way.
In love and liberation.
